As Hurricane Irma lashes Florida, deputies from the Bradford County Sheriff have been taking care of a stranded kitten.

In a photo posted on Facebook, it shows a small kitty being bottle fed.

"As we are preparing for Hurricane Irma, we were able to rescue this precious little kitten that was stranded by its mother," the Sheriff's Office wrote. "One of our deputies has been bottle feeding him throughout the night.

"Please remember to protect your pets during the storm...'We Care.'"

The message comes days after authorities throughout South Florida found nearly 50 dogs that had been abandoned by their owners, and chained to trees or poles.
