A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect until 12 p.m. Wednesday. Wind chills will be -10° to -20° this evening and -15° to -25° Wednesday morning. Frostbite can happen in less than 30 minutes.
A few snow showers will slowly migrate north this evening. Another 1/2" is possible in some areas around and north of M59.
Mostly clear skies tonight will allow our temperatures to drop to the coldest point this week. Lows will be around -3° with wind chills -15° to -25°. Frostbit can happen in less than 30 minutes in these conditions. A stronger south-southwesterly wind will bring in some "warmer" temperatures by Wednesday afternoon with highs climbing into the mid teens, but that stronger wind will keep the wind chills very cold.
A clipper system swings through Wednesday night and Thursday bringing some light snow across Metro Detroit. Accumulation will be around 1" in lots of spots with up to 2" in a few areas. Temperatures will start in the low teens before climbing into the mid 20s by the afternoon.
Temperatures continue to climb this upcoming weekend with highs close to the freezing. Some light snow showers are possible Saturday night, otherwise skies will be partly to mostly cloudy.
This Evening: A few light snow showers will migrate north through areas north of Detroit. Temps will be in the single digits and wind chills will range from -10° to -20°. Winds: WSW 10-20 mph.
Tonight: Mostly clear with lows near -3° in Detroit and from 5 to 10 below outside the city. Wind chills: -15° to -25°. Winds: SW 10-15 mph.
Wednesday: Increasing clouds with highs in the mid teens. Wind chills improve to 0° to -10° in the afternoon. Winds: S 15-25 mph.
Thursday: Mostly cloudy with a chance of some snow showers in the morning. Highs in the low to mid 20s early afternoon. Temps will then begin to fall again. Winds: W 10 mph.
