Metro Detroit Forecast: Flood watch starts overnight, then a Winter Storm Warning beginning Thursday 3pm

FLOOD WATCH - THURSDAY FROM 4AM UNTIL 4PM

A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR ST. CLAIR, LIVINGSTON, OAKLAND, MACOMB, WASHTENAW, WAYNE, LENAWEE AND MONROE COUNTIES FROM 3PM THURSDAY UNTIL 3 AM FRIDAY.

Rain will become heavier overnight and snow melt could lead to flooding Thursday. The rain changes to a wintry mix that slides north to south throughout the day. Eventually snow takes over late tomorrow through tomorrow night. Widespread snow at this time will be 4"-7". Roads will get worse as the day goes on Thursday.

Tonight: Temps stay in the 40s and the rain picks up. The combination of melting snow and heavy rain could lead to street flooding. A flood watch starts at 4 AM and runs through Thursday afternoon. Watch the creeks and rivers too. They will rise because of the high runoff.

Thursday: Morning rain early and then a transition to freezing rain and sleet, and eventually accumulating snow. Roads become icy in the late morning around I-69 then in the afternoon for metro Detroit form north to south, so plan ahead for difficult travel Thursday.

Thursday night: Heavy snow ending around 3am. Temperatures drop to near 10°.

Friday: Partly sunny and cold with a high of 23°.
