When you think of summer vacations, you’re likely to conjure up memories of lazy days spent poolside or building sand castles by the beach. Or you might dream of a family trip to Disney. But have you ever considered a more adventurous option for your summer travels?

Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi gave us all a new vision for summer vacation. The couple visited Nairobi’s Giraffe Manor over Memorial Day Weekend and shared photo after wanderlust-inducing photo.

Best Breakfast

True to its name, the Giraffe Manor welcomes guests with resident giraffes. As the Rothschild giraffe herd passes through the sanctuary surrounding the boutique hotel, they check out the visitors. In fact, they often poke their necks through the windows looking for snacks during breakfast.

DeGeneres and de Rossi had an extra special giraffe audience at the start of their day. Who needs coffee when you have a wild wake-up like this?

Those pancakes must have been delicious. In fact, the giraffes stuck around for leftovers:

Wide-Eyed Wonder

The couple then snapped more photos outside with the giraffes. Here, DeGeneres looks as happy as a kid on Christmas morning:

Volunteer Vacation

She’s definitely making the most of her sixtieth birthday gift from de Rossi. In addition to Nairobi, the couple will also visit Rwanda, where they will work on the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. Part of the The Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund, the campus is a place for education, tourism and research.

So, would you fly all the way to Africa to dine with giraffes?
