Less than two hours after sparring with former President Donald Trump for 90 minutes during the first presidential debate of 2024, President Joe Biden made a brief stop at a popular 24/7 restaurant chain that is a staple in the South.

President Biden and first lady Jill Biden made a late-night stop at a Waffle House in Atlanta. As they picked up a to-go order, Biden shook hands with customers as he headed to the counter to pick up the order that was already bagged for the Bidens. It was unclear what the Bidens ordered.

President Biden was then asked about his debate performance.

"I think we did well," he said, adding that he didn't have any concerns about his debate performance. "It's hard to debate a liar. The New York Times pointed out he lied 26 times. Big lies."

President Biden was also asked whether he was feeling sick.

"I have a sore throat," he said.

The Bidens' visit to Waffle House came after they met with supporters immediately after the debate at a watch party at a nearby Hyatt Regency.

The visit came as President Biden headed to the airport to fly to Raleigh, North Carolina. On Friday, President Biden will hold a campaign event in Raleigh.
