DETROIT (WXYZ) — Michigan State Police released chopper video showing them following suspects who allegedly robbed an Amazon delivery driver at gun point earlier this week.
Around 6 p.m. Tuesday, Detroit police said the driver was delivering packages in the area of Courville Street and East Outer Drive when a vehicle drove in front of her. Three suspects were dressed in all black and announced the robbery.
“The porch pirates are definitely something I’ve known about. Once again, luckily never had to deal with that, but actually going to the drivers themselves, the delivery people, that’s terrible," DJ Adamczyk, who lives in the area, said.
Multiple packages were stolen from the driver and the Amazon delivery truck, police said. The suspects then took off in a dark-colored SUV.
Michigan State Police followed the suspects in a chopper as the vehicle fled, and then the suspects eventually fled on foot.
The suspects were tracked on foot by the chopper until ground units could converge and arrest all five suspects.

“Glad to hear that one, the driver’s OK, and that two, that these guys were caught," Adamczyk said.
In a statement about the incident, Amazon said:
"We provide 24/7 support for drivers on-the-road to help them make deliveries to customers. If something occurs that requires additional safety support, drivers can contact Amazon’s 24/7 Safety Helpline. In the rare case of emergencies, drivers are encouraged to call 911 immediately. Drivers receive de-escalation and safety training."
