A scary situation in Wayne, after a truck plows into a gas pump igniting a fire storm. It happened at the Marathon at Elizabeth and Michigan Avenue.

Wayne PD continues to investigate how this happened.

For a family eating dinner across the street this was a little too close for comfort.

"It was like huge, it was just a huge fire," said Melinda Neilson.

She was celebrating a birthday with her family across the street at a Pizza Hut.

"We were like there’s a car on fire at the gas station and we all looked a came outside," said Neilson.

The gas station attendant helping a customer inside when he heard a loud noise.

"Oh man big noise like explosion boom," he said.

A truck jumped the curb, hitting a light pole and plowed directly into a gas pump.

"We were like oh my God there’s a fire at the gas station," said Neilson.

Flames engulfing the pump and truck.

"The pumps get on fire.  So first thing I shut off everything and try to call 911," said the gas station attendant.

A very scary ending for a family out celebrating a birthday

"Yes, very crazy. You don’t see stuff like this everyday," said Neilson.
