Highland Park police say they may have identified the woman whose body was found in a parking structure near Hamilton and Glendale all thanks to a tip.
The woman, an African American in her early 20s, is believed to have been murdered. Officers say she sustained heavy blunt force trauma to her face.
After the discovery, officers released the following picture of her ankle bracelet hoping someone would recognize it.
It works. Someone thought the piece of jewelry looked familiar and emailed police.
Now, her possible family members are going to the medical examiner's office to try and identify her.
It is believed the woman's body was dumped at the location following the murder, which may have happened in the last few days.
Police say she was wearing pink jeans, brown furry boots, a nice brown leather belt with a gold buckle on it and a pink shirt.
Police say they do have a person of interest in the case.
