Many people from metro Detroit are now home safe after what was supposed to be a fun weekend in Las Vegas, turned into the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.
More than 500 people were injured and 59 are confirmed dead.
One Detroit couple was in the middle of the massacre attending a concert.
"All of a sudden it started going non stop. The spray, then it went DRRRRRRRR, solid it never stopped," said Michelle Carlton, who attended the concert over the weekend.
The images are gut wrenching.
"Nobody could move they were piled on top of each other. People were throwing themselves on top of each other’s bodies just to save others," said Cindas Ankawi, who was inside one of the casinos having dinner.
Passengers arriving back in Detroit from Las Vegas describing their horrific ordeal Sunday night.
"It’s mass panic. Just imagine seeing this many people standing as close together as you possibly can and some falling to the ground. We saw people dropping like flies. In front of us and behind us," said Carlton.
Thousands of people were attending an outdoor country music festival when shots rang out.
"The smell of it, the smoke coming up from the shells and the scent of it," said Carlton.
Many people were stuck in the hotels. Martin Kakoz, was on his way back to one of the casinos, when he saw people running for their lives.
People were running towards the hotel trying to get to safety and I was trying help people get in. The whole strip was chaotic, everybody was running they didn't know what was going on," said Kakoz.
A terrifying scene many people never want to see or experience again.
"When I got on the plane is my first time I started crying about it," said Carlton.
Everyone we talked to say's they’re glad to be back home safe and sound, but are praying for the families of those who were killed or injured.
