Michigan State Police released new statistics Wednesday morning showing no crimes have been reported on Belle Isle this year, which is now the most attended state park in Michigan.
The statistics show Belle Isle has been free of criminal offenses from January 1, 2017 through April 30, 2017.
Michigan State Police said the highest number of crimes in the past five years was reported in 2013, but there was a steep decline from 2014 to 2016.
The department noted that 2014 was the first year Michigan State Police and the Department of Natural Resources began patrolling Belle Isle.
Belle Isle became a state park in February 2014 as part of a 30-year lease deal between State of Michigan and the City of Detroit.
Last year, 4 million people visited the island.
