The dog that belonged to a young Detroit couple killed in an horrific crash back in April has been reunited with the family they left behind.

Zack Garrison, 20, and his 21-year-old fiance Angel Careathers were in a parked car at Pickford and Whitcomb with each of their teenage sisters. Police said the speeding driver of a Camaro lost control, went airborne, and landed on top of their Chevy Malibu, killing the couple and injuring their sisters.

Robert Anthony Chaney, 37 of Southfield, was behind the wheel of the Camaro. He has been charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence and second degree murder, according to the Garrison family.

The couple had stopped at a park to walk their dog, Bella. In their grief, the family had almost forgotten about her.

"I forgot all about the doggie until maybe the next morning when somebody mentioned where's the dog?," said Renaldo Garrison, Zack's father.

Project 1 took Bella in where she underwent surgery and treatment for her injuries. She returned home Thursday and immediately looked for Zack and Angel.

"She was focused on that room door where they live at, and it kind of made me feel good to see that," Garrison said.
