Off-duty trooper saves man at Buffalo Wild Wings

Video captured an off-duty New Jersey state trooper rushing into action to save a man from choking in a Buffalo Wild Wings. 

The trooper was watching a football game with his son when he realized a man nearby was having trouble breathing, according to the New Jersey State Police Facebook page.  

Dennis Palaia, the trooper, began performing the Heimlich maneuver on the man at the Buffalo Wild Wings in Rockaway Township, New Jersey. 

 

 

The man made a full recovery, according to the New Jersey State Police. 

"New Jersey State Police Recruits are taught in the academy to expect the unexpected and to always be prepared to act," the New Jersey State Police posted on its Facebook page. "Trooper Dennis Palaia, of Troop “B” Tactical Patrol Unit, showed why this important lesson holds true whether on or off duty."
