DETROIT (WXYZ) — One night before the general election, vice presidential candidate and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz campaigned in Detroit with his wife, Gwen.

As part of their Get Out The Vote organizing effort, Tim Walz rallied at Hart Plaza in the Motor City with musical guests.
Musical guests included the Detroit Youth Choir, Jon Bon Jovi, Michael Stipe with R.E.M. and Michael and Tanya Trotter of "The War and Treaty."
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrest and Rep. Elissa Slotkin also took the stage before Walz. The event was held in conjunction with critical battleground states like Michigan.
"We're going to save our state, we're going to save our country, the whole world is watching us, and we're going to do our job," Slotkin said.
Walz on Monday focused on reproductive rights and said Vice President Kamala Harris is the best teammate.
"We've got the best quarterback on the field and that's Kamala Harris. We don't get tired because we know there's plenty of time to sleep when you're dead," Walz said. "And we believe in the promise of America. We just have to fight for it."
Voters we spoke with said they're looking forward to Election Day.
"Oh, so much excitement. Just the fact I have never missed a vote and just the fact that I'm actually I'm able to be here and if we get madam president, I will be at inauguration with my granddaughter to make sure she knows that this vote was for her," voter Tamara Buchanan said.
Walz was just in the Mitten State on Friday, with campaign stops in Lansing, Traverse City and Taylor. He and Harris have been in Michigan several times over the last few months, with Harris most recently speaking in East Lansing at Michigan State University following her surprise appearance on "Saturday Night Live."

Former President Donald Trump held his final campaign rally of the election season in Grand Rapids. The event started after midnight on Tuesday.
Trump held his final events of the 2016 and 2020 presidential campaigns in Grand Rapids. His running mate JD Vance hosting a rally earlier in the day in Flint, and U.S. Senate candidate Mike Rogers spoke with voters in Mount Clemens.
More than 1.2 million Michiganders voted ahead of Tuesday's election. The final day for early voting was Sunday, Nov. 3.
