Posted

An early morning house fire on Detroit's west side forced a man to jump for his life.

Crews were called out to a home in the 9000 block of Broadstreet Avenue near Joy Road and I-96 around 2 a.m.

We're told a man and a woman were taken to the hospital and that the man had to jump out of a second story window. He injured his leg, both suffered from smoke inhalation.

Both people taken to the hospital appeared to be alert, according to crews on the scene.

Firefighters are not sure how the fire started, but investigators will continue that work later this morning.
