Metro Detroit Facebook fugitive 'surprised' by shares before turning self in

Posted

A Facebook fugitive who once taunted police surrendered Monday night and even followed through on a promise to deliver a dozen donuts.

Only 7 Action News cameras were rolling as Michael Zaydel strolled into the Redford Police Station.

He previously challenged cops to get more than a thousand shares of a "wanted" bulletin on Facebook. He offered to turn himself in and deliver the sweets once it happened.

Zaydel was wanted for probation violation related to a DUI and other charges.

"Cops like donuts, whatever. I thought I'd bring them some for the inconvenience. Also, a bagel for the Sergeant who is a bagel guy," said Zaydel.

Michael told us he is surprised by how many people shared the FB post, and police admit the same.

Officers working at the station thanked him for the donuts soon after he arrived, and just prior to making an official arrest.

He'll appear in court Tuesday at 10:00 am, after spending the night behind bars.
