DETROIT (WXYZ) — An 8-year-old boy who was grazed by a bullet in a suspected drive-by shooting on Detroit's east side Monday morning is now resting at home, his family tells 7 News Detroit.
Police say the incident happened around 5 a.m. at a home in the 16000 block of Fairmount Drive.
Officers say they found the boy injured when they arrived. The boy had reportedly been sleeping in the front room of the home when police believe a drive-by shooting occurred.
"It's not OK, these are little children," said the victim's aunt.
Family tells us Isiah is now home from the hospital recovering.
"Had he been at a different angle, or laying a different way, an inch higher and it would have went in his head, and he wouldn't be here with us," said one of his aunts.
Detroit Police Chief James White held a press conference early Monday morning to discuss the shooting.
Chief White said police are looking for more than one shooter. He said the suspects left the scene in a vehicle. They are currently working to learn the make, model, and color.
Police told us there were 11 people in the home at the time of the shooting, including eight children.
"Extremely cowardice act to shoot into a home with that many children inside," Chief White said.

Investigators are looking into whether or not the shooting was gang-related, and believe the shooting stemmed from a conflict with an adult in the home.
