Tourists in Queensland, Austrailia can get a ride on a scUber to the Great Barrier Reef — but only for a limited time.

People may book a ride on the submarine through the Uber app now through June 18. It will cost about $2,000 for two riders.

Here's what it includes:

  • Pickup and drop off from your location with the Uber app
  • Scenic helicopter ride to either Heron Island (for riders requesting from Gladstone) or the Quicksilver Cruises pontoon off the coast of Port Douglas (for riders requesting from Cairns, Port Douglas and Palm Cove)
  • One hour ride in a scUber submarine
  • A half day snorkel and tour of the Great Barrier Reef

The vessel will return riders to their pickup locations in either Heron Island or Port Douglas.

The experience is part of a promotion for Uber, which is selecting riders based on a summary they must provide of why they deserve the trip. More information is online at www.scUberQueensland.com ..
